Biography

Roots grow well in the early childhood! Actually I started at the age of 7 (accordion). At the age of 16 I first heard "Muddy Waters" on the radio with his hit "Manish Boy". It was played by a harmonica player, which fascinated me a lot! I also wanted to learn to play like this guy on the record and got me my first blues harp. There it probably "packed" me with the blues and the harmonica and I practiced and practiced! At the beginning it must have sounded bad, because although the scheme was not particularly complex and the harmonica "only" 10 holes, it seemed to me almost impossible to bring these warm and soulful tones from this instrument. After some band experiences I was invited to Chicago in 1993 by the blues guitarist Jon McDonald. This was definitely my biggest jump and shaping my future music career. It was more like a bluesdrill at the beginning and so I was able to take home the experiences of about 40 concerts and "Jamm-Seesions". The name "Harprise" was given to me by musician friends from Chicago, which means something like; Harmonica rising. I always listened to Blues Radio at night and played harmonica at night. With Mojo Swamp Harprise played for 4 years Delta blues and songs from the time of the blues. As a bandleader of Bluesland and Mojo Swamp, he has performed in various well-known clubs and at festivals such as Piazza Blues Festival 05 in Bellinzona, Blues Festival Baden and Musikfestwochen Winterthur. Harprise was guest frontman of the Lazy Poker Blues Band for two years. He guested with Lefty Dizz, Casey Jones, Rita Chiarelli and Sulaiman Hakim, Bob Margolin and many others. Since the beginning of 2006 I am on the road with my Blues Crew and always happy to discover new facets of the blues ... there is a beginning of the blues, but there is no end...!
